This event will feature a 45 minute presentation by Jonny Howle (identity expert), followed by a 45 minute panel discussion on identity and blockchain.

Jonny's presentation will first establish a shared understanding of the fundamental concepts and behaviors we are trying to translate online. To do this, he will draw on philosophy, psychology and sociology. Then, Jonny will give an examination of the current state of digital identity and it's many design flaws. And finally, a road towards 


Event Location Details: WeWork 34th Floor

  • WeWork does have a parking garage; however, attendees are responsible for their own parking payment. WeWork does not validate. Each 15 minutes is $2 and the day rate max is $20. A lost ticket charge is also $20. After 5:30 PM, the flat rate is $10.

  • There are 4 elevator banks at Thanksgiving Tower. From Floor 1, guests will exit the parking elevator and walk to the last elevator bank. They should select Floor 33 to reach the main floor of WeWork, then walk to the 34th floor. The elevators lock at 6 PM but are open for events. Should the elevator be locked, guests should reach out to the event contact (Kaitlin Klarer, kaitlin@ntba.io) so that a WeWork employee can communicate this issue to our security team.

Smart Contract Cryptography Workshop

This workshop will give attendees an intuitive understanding of foundational concepts in the relevant subset of cryptography, which is an essential part of smart contracts on Ethereum and other blockchain platforms. We’ll be discussing topics such as computational commitments, one way functions (including hash functions), Diffie-Hellman key exchange, and digital signatures. The only knowledge we assume is high school level algebra.

We are partnered with the Financial Leadership Association to bring you a forum on cryptocurrency investing with speakers Jeff Sandene, CFP and Cody Marx Bailey. These financial experts in blockchain will share their knowledge of crypto-based investments and where they see the future of the industry heading. This forum will be moderated and will take questions from the audience.

Our Speakers:

Jeff Sandene, CFP is President of Sandene Strategies, LLC with a 13 year track record in financial planning for business executives, owners and retirees. Jeff has recently been researching and speaking on blockchain technology in order to better prepare his clients for a financial industry that may soon embrace crypto-based assets. 

Cody Marx Bailey is a long-time technologist with a specialty in crypto-based asset investments. Cody was a co-author of the ERC721 standard for non-fungible assets and currently manages the cryptoasset fund, XRAM Capital, as well as leading the North Texas Blockchain Alliance.

Omar Syed of Shardus will discuss Equihash, which is a Proof of Work algorithm, (like what Bitcoin uses) that requires large amount of memory, making it ASIC resistant. This algorithm is used by ZCash. This talk will dive into the details of the cryptography behind the Equihash algorithm and discuss how the Shardus project plans to use Equihash in a novel way.

The Hashgraph Dallas meet up group is very excited to promote an event being hosted by the North Texas Blockchain Alliance (NTBA), who’s focus is on providing support and organization for events, training, networking, and cooperation around blockchain and distributed ledger technologies in the North Texas region.

The NTBA (https://ntba.io/) has been kind enough to host Simi Hunjan from the Developer Advocate team at Hedera, who will share an in-depth discussion that will cover a variety of topics that will include an overview of Hedera as well as:
